Bird Toy Trade Table |
Information and Rules |
 |
You think you’ve just purchased the BEST toy in the world for your parrot.
You just know he’s going to love it and love you for getting it for him.
You feel like Santa Claus when you put it in his cage. He looks at it, he
beaks it , he ‘tastes’ it and then looks at you and you swear you saw him
roll his eyes at you, then he never goes near it again. You tie his
favorite rope on it, you stuff his favorite nuts into it, and you play
with it in front of him like it’s the greatest thing you’ve ever seen, you
show him pictures of other birds loving the same toy, show him the
receipt, beg and plead with him to play with it. He thinks you’re crazy
and he still ignores it. So, the toy ends up collecting dust in a drawer
and you end up spending more money on toys. Help is here! Dust off your
rejected toys and trade them for a toy that will be a hit. No further cost
to you and if your baby doesn’t like it you’re not out anything and you
can bring it back at the next toy swap and trade it for something else.
|
| 1. This is for TRADING toys and bird-related paraphernalia ONLY. This not
for anyone’s gain or profit. This is not for members to sell toys, promote
things they may have for sell or advertising a bird-related business. If a
member has toys they make to sell they are more then welcome to donate
something they have made to the trading table, but it cannot be in an
effort to generate business for themselves.
|
|
| 2. The toy swap table should not be in competition with the raffle table.
The raffle table generates funds for WAES; the toy swap table does not.
Therefore, the raffle table takes priority over the toy swap if any
conflict occurs.
|
| 3. Toys are to be clean and whole. No half chewed up toys please. Please
be responsible and clean and sanitize toys before you bring them. Of
course the receiver of a toy is ultimately responsible for making sure the
toy is clean and safe. No toy is 100% safe for all birds all the time.
Know your bird and know his limits.
|
| 4. Toys can be placed on a designated table as members arrive for the
meeting. After the meeting members may browse the table to look for
something that may be interesting to their bird. You do not have to bring
something to take something home and there is no limit in the number of
items you can bring or take but please be considerate of others. Remember
the Golden Rule.
|
| 5. Amey Reader is responsible for and in charge of the toy swap. In that
capacity she has the responsibility to all WAES members and their parrots to refuse and/or remove items from the toy swap table that she or other board members may deem
unsafe, unclean, or damaged. Also, she has the authority to limit the number of items taken by any member(s) who may appear to be taking an unfair advantage of the toy
swap. I'm sure we are all adults and will have the utmost consideration for our fellow WAES members; however should the occasion arrise that this rule must be enforced
the member will receive a gentle reminder of the guidelines for the toy swap. If a second reminder is necessary that member may be asked to not participate in the toy
swap. Let's keep this amicable and fun for everyone. It only takes one bad apple to spoil the whole bushel.
|
| 6. Any toys left at the end of the evening will be collected by Amey Reader
and Shawna Augustine to be donated to the birds in rescue/foster homes. Foster parents are encouraged to atttend meetings to take advantage of this great opportunity to have
'first dibs' on the toys. However, if attendence at a toy swap meeting is not possible then Amey & Shawna will arrange delivery of the items to the foster parents. The recipient
of the toys will be at Shawna & Amey's discretion and their decision is final.
