| For the Snuggle Swing
you'll need....
1.The inside circle of a plastic embroidery hoop. I use a 6" for lovies, p'letts, and budgies, 8" for quakers and conures, and the 10" for my greys. I buy mine at Walmart for about $1.25. JoAnn's also has 16" ones that I think a macaw or larger too might like, they are a heavier plastic and the flat part is wider for the bigger feet, but those are about $14. I only get those for special orders. 2. Fleece. 2/3 of a yard will make 2 rings for me. I like to use bright colors or combine 2 or 3 different colors. I made some really pretty red, white and blue ones for the 4th of July. If anyone finds tye-dye fleece please let me know. I'm on a mission to find some and I can't find anymore anywhere. 3. 1" O ring, Nickel Plated or Stainless Steel. NOT welded. You need to be able to open the ring. If anyone can't find these just let me know before the meeting and I'll bring some. The only cost me about a dime a piece so it's really no big deal. 4. Quick Link Optional: a few plastic pacifiers or a liberty bell or some rings. I'll bring some of these too so if anyone wants to add these they can without having to order a bunch. Homework: Cut the fleece into strips. I use the hoop as a guide, 10" strips for the 10 inch hoop, 8" for the 8 inch and 6" for the 6 inch. The strips should be about 1 1/2 inches wide. They don't have to be perfect, your bird won't care if one strip is skinnier or shorter than another one. If you have a couple extra pairs of pliers you might want to bring those too. I'll bring what I have and I have extra scissors too. Also, I'm willing to put together a 'kit' with the parts in it for anyone that doesn't have time to shop for the supplies. I'll bring a couple just in case someone decides at the last minute they want to make one. But, if anyone knows before hand they want me to furnish the supplies just let me know. I would just ask for what it cost me to buy the parts at my cost. |
