Shahravar is working with me and organizing and participating in this - She is a wonderful dancer and was voted best fusion belly dancer in Salt Lake City 2009 by City Weekly. Her dance background is in Classical Cabaret, Tribal and Folkloric. She is trained in Flamenco, Zahmbra, Turkish and "Gypsy"(Proper term is Rom or Roma), American Tribal, Saudi Folk, Khallegy, Tunisian, Egyptian Cabaret and Lebanese Debke Line dances" Shah is a founding member of Desert Orchid Dance Company and they will be performing for us. Desert Orchid Company is designed to dispel cultural biases and misconceptions of Middle Eastern dance, music, and culture. They perform shows that incorporate the fables, folktales, legends, history, and other elements of Middle Eastern culture in an entertaining dance show. Zahirah teaches belly dance at the University of Utah field house amongst others and traveled many countries to study dance. She was invited by IAMED (International Academy Middle Eastern Dance) to appear on three of their belly dance DVDs Thia is involved in dance full time, teaching dancing and has one of Utah's best-known belly dance stores. She will be there with her students. Beautiful LaRa with Beauté Dérangée will be there, Scimitar Dance Company will be traveling all the way from Brigham City to participate. Ana Kita Za Shopia aka Kitty will be presenting the show. She is a wonderful dancer - but might be too busy presenting to be part of the dance show.
