These Birds Have New Homes

January 2007 Adoptees

Caesar First off is Caesar, a Blue Fronted Amazon

Caesar is very sweet natured, but she is possessive of "her space" and gets threatening when I put my hand in to feed her. She says "Hello" and repeats some things I say in a soft voice and makes pleasant cooing sounds. She likes going up for dinner at night and then sitting on my arm for a while. She seems to want me to scratch her head but she is still a little scared and backs off if I lift my hand. She does well with our other parrots specially Doxie the African Grey and they sit together on their stands during the day. Elvis likes the two "girls" but tries to steal their toys after he breaks his.

Jojo

Next Adoptee is Jo-Jo, a Red Bellied Parrot

The following information is a portion of an article written by Eric D. Hilton.

The Red Bellied is similar in shape and a slightly larger bird than the Senegal and the Brown headed but here the sexes are sexually dimorphic (that means different). A green/grey colored bird with green under parts except for the cock bird which has as its name suggests "a deep orange belly" (who comes up with these names) ? It is also differentiated from the other 2 by having red iris not yellow as in both the Senegal and the Brown headed.
